Control message content

Set the tone, rules, and raw material your agent writes from — once — so every future message sounds like you.

There are two layers of control: per-message guidance (edited in the Flow tab) and standing rules (set in Flow or via your Ninja). Use guidance for style and angle; use rules for hard constraints.

Edit message guidance in Flow

  1. Open the Flow tab and click a message block (e.g., "Message 1").
  2. Edit Guidance for this message — tone, angle, what to lead with. For the first message that's your opener/hook; follow-up blocks have their own guidance. Changes save automatically.
  3. Add hard constraints under Rules for all messages (applies to every message in the flow) or Rules specific to [message name] (just that one). Click Add a rule.
  4. Optionally add links under Reference material — articles, posts, or benchmarks the agent can naturally cite in that message.

Set standing rules via your Ninja

Anything you tell your Ninja as a lasting preference becomes a learned rule that persists across all future outreach — and stays visible (and editable) under Learned rules in the Flow tab. Example phrasings:

  • "Only reference claims actually supported by the lead's profile — never guess or flatter."
  • "Never mention pricing in the first message."
  • "Always write in British English."
  • "Always include our booking link in follow-up 2: [link]."

Fix a bad message on the spot

While reviewing a draft, click the text to edit it, or use Regenerate with guidance ("shorter", "drop the compliment") to get a better version. That fixes this message — and your Ninja learns your preferences from your edits and feedback over time, so the same issue is less likely to come back. When a preference really matters, promote it to a rule so it's applied everywhere from now on. See review and approve messages.

Common questions

Can I give you text to always use in connection requests?
No — your Ninja sends connection requests without a note, on purpose. Blank invites get accepted noticeably more often than ones with a note, so adding text would cost you connections. Your messaging effort goes into the first message after someone accepts — see The cadence.

The agent claimed something about a lead that wasn't true.
Add the rule above: "Only reference claims actually supported by the lead's profile." Then regenerate the offending draft. Rules apply to every message written after you set them.

Can I write the messages entirely myself?
Per message, yes — every draft is fully editable before sending in review mode. There's no template mode where your fixed text replaces the agent's writing for whole messages; the closest is setting strict rules that constrain how it writes.

Do guidance changes rewrite drafts already waiting for approval?
No. Existing drafts keep their text — use Regenerate on them. New drafts follow the new guidance.

What about the language my messages are written in?
Set it as a rule ("write all outreach in French") or see language settings.
