Handle replies
Someone answered — this is the moment the whole pipeline works toward. Here's who replies, where, and how.
The short version: when a lead replies, all automated follow-ups to that person stop immediately. The conversation is now yours. Your agent won't answer on its own — but it will draft replies for you whenever you ask.
Answer a reply
- Open the Leads tab.
- Click the Message received filter pill. An amber dot marks replies you haven't opened yet.
- Click the lead. You'll see the full conversation — your messages and theirs, as chat bubbles.
- Read the reply, then use the composer at the bottom of the conversation. You have two modes:
- Type message — write the reply yourself and click Send.
- Generate message — describe what you want to say (e.g., "thank him and propose a 20-minute call next week") and click Ask Ninja. The draft appears as a Reply to send card: edit it, regenerate it, or hit Send when it's right.
- Send it. There's a brief pause after you hit Send — a window to undo it if you clicked too soon — then it goes out. Warm leads cool fast, so don't sit on it: same-day replies convert best.
If your agent also has an email mailbox connected, a LinkedIn | Mail selector appears next to the composer so you can choose the channel.
Common questions
Looks like I have 2 replies. What do I do now?
Open Leads → Message received, click the first lead with an amber dot, read, reply (type it or Ask Ninja), then do the second. You can also ask your Ninja: "Show me my replies" — it will summarize them and help you draft answers.
Do I reply manually, or will the agent send replies?
Replying is your job — deliberately. The agent stops its follow-up cadence the moment someone answers, so a real conversation never collides with automation. What the agent does do: flag the reply, brief you on the lead, and write the response for you via Generate message → Ask Ninja. You always press Send.
If I reply from the app, will it show up in my LinkedIn messages?
Yes. Messages sent from the app go out from your own LinkedIn account, so they appear in your LinkedIn inbox thread exactly like a message you typed on LinkedIn — and the other person sees a normal message from you.
Can I just reply from LinkedIn directly instead?
Absolutely. Reply wherever you prefer — LinkedIn's inbox or the app. Either way the reply thread stays visible in the lead's conversation view, and automated follow-ups to that lead remain stopped.
A reply came in while a follow-up was still queued. Will they get a weird double message?
No. A reply stops the cadence for that lead, and a draft that was superseded by their reply is pulled from the queue. See the cadence.
They proposed a meeting — anything I should do in the app?
Nothing special — book it however you normally would. Your Ninja can tell you where every open conversation stands whenever you ask.
